Why is this role important?

  • The Program Lead is responsible for providing leadership in the management, development and production of analytic and performance measurement products that inform health system and population health improvement. The Program Lead will work closely with other areas of the organization and external stakeholders, to develop, shape and guide the content of products and collaborate on joint initiatives.


  • What you'll do

  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff to ensure quality, continuous learning opportunities and ontime completion of departmental deliverables and commitments. Conducts annual performance management reviews.
  • Leads the project management of analytic and performance measurement products including, analytic reports, health system performance reporting tools, webbased visualization tools and health data standards in alignment with CIHI's Project Management processes. Consistently applies quality assurance framework to all stages of product development.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of PIH's operational and multiyear business plans, ensuring alignment with CIHI's strategic plan.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging population health, health equity and health care/system analysis (including research, reports, data, analytical techniques, and indicators), fosters a culture of learning in the team and applies this new knowledge to innovative work in the branch.
  • Develops productive working relationships with teams across CIHI, facilitates internal project teams and participates on working groups and committees as required.
  • Leads and/or contributes to knowledge translation activities, including stakeholder outreach and engagement, conference and webinar presentations, stakeholder briefings, media interviews and workshops for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership and input to branch operation including assisting with the organization of staff, team/branch retreats, recognition events, and contributes to meeting materials for CIHI's Advisory Council on Population Health.
  • Represents CIHI externally as required (e.g. conferences, symposiums, expert working groups, and committees).
  • Organizes contract services by identifying and engaging potential consultants/service providers, drafting contracts and tracking deliverables, milestones and disbursements.


What you'll bring to the table- Graduate degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, health, social sciences, health economics or related field preferred.


  • Minimum five years' experience working in an environment involved in the design, analysis and dissemination of research and/or related information products.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problemsolving skills and the ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews, develop research questions and design analysis plans.
  • Strong project management skills, experience, and knowledge of project management tools.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Strong written communication skills with experience in interpreting and writing results of analysis and synthesizing research and technical information (e.g., statistical and descriptive reports).
  • Strong negotiating and facilitation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience in quality assurance processes and ensuring high quality products.
  • Familiarity with CI
