Job Summary

RBC's Corporate Treasury is responsible for managing the capital and liquidity position of the Bank through a variety of risk measures, funding actions, liquid asset buffers, and other strategic initiatives. The Applied Liquidity Research & Wholesale FTP (ALRFTP) team in Corporate Treasury leads behavioral research work on the extensive array of retail and wholesale products the Bank sells to clients with the goal of understanding how to effectively fund these products in a way that is robust to a wide variety of risks and stress scenarios, as well as governing the Capital Markets Fund Transfer Pricing methodologies.

The Liquidity Parameterization team within ALRFTP is seeking to fill a 4-month Co-op internship for the Fall period from September 3rd through December 13th and would like to find an individual interested in expanding their knowledge of treasury and liquidity risk management as well as the application of data science to conduct advanced analytics that will derive actionable insights to inform business decisions.

Job Description

What will you do?

• Aid in the development of internal liquidity risk treatment and parameterization (through quantitative modeling, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML))
• Help develop infrastructure for liquidity scorecards, which will accelerate liquidity parameterization process and ensure consistent treatments across similar risks.
• Enhance the current approach in data acquisition and tableau reporting through automation initiatives.
• Other bespoke requests as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)
• Experience in applying next generation technologies (AI/ML, Robotic Process Automation, etc.) to existing business processes.
• Solid proficiency in Python as well as in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and ability to manipulate large data sets.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop valuable relationships with key stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills
• Good business acumen, comfort with ambiguity and the ability to anticipate potential needs when working through projects without prompting, and comfortability making recommendations and proposing solutions.
  
  Nice-to-have
• Working knowledge of banking products such as deposits, securities finance, and loans.
• Ability to draft technical documentation to support IT development as required.
