Compliance Auditor, Emissions - HybridThe Opportunity
The Alberta Energy Regulator is currently recruiting for an Emissions Compliance Auditor to join our talented team of professionals in the Compliance and Liability Branch (CLM).
The Emissions Compliance Auditor will work within the Production & Emissions Compliance team conducting routine audits, supporting complex compliance assurance activities on industry operations, and verifying compliance with regulatory requirements.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Follow and support all planning and reporting activities in alignment with AER policies, procedures, the Compliance Assurance Program, and Branch Operational Plans.
- Conduct routine and support complex audits on operations/activities within the AER's jurisdiction.
- Prepare audit plans, collect, and analyze information from varied and numerous sources to determine compliance, resolve problems and make recommendations to improve operations.
- Prepare audit letters, noncompliance letters, perform follow-up actions and execute compliance assurance processes as required. Ensure all audit file documentation is compiled and saved appropriately.
- Respond to inquiries and stakeholder complaints for routine files. Conduct the technical review of complaints with other AER stakeholders.
- Contribute to provincial initiatives or assignments related to operational needs, regulatory, and technical issues as appropriate. Support provincial teams as needed by conducting proactive audits programs and ensure the flow of information between audit teams and field centers.
What we're looking for in you:
- 3 years related work experience in auditing or related oil & gas experience.
- Technical Diploma in environment, oil & gas or other related education. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Professional Association of Science & Engineering Technology (ASET) certification is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements Directive 039 is preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Ability to prioritize work based on risk and value.
