Why is this role important?

  • The Program Lead, HHR Data Integration Methods and Tools works closely with the Manager and other Program Leads within the branch to organize and plan activities related to Health Human Resources data integration, methods & tools. This includes participating in crossfunctional collaborations connecting health workforce information to other CIHI and external data and analyses. The Program Lead's main responsibility includes activities related to the development of indicators and metrics related to Health Workforce including physicians, nurses, and other care providers. Activities will include oversight of analytical staff, collaborating with, and engaging multiple stakeholders, coordinating client support activities, as well as developing communications materials and participating in dissemination efforts around the webbased tools and reports. Overall, the Program Lead will improve and accelerate the production of health information that is relevant to decisionmakers at the facility, regional, provincial/territorial and panCanadian levels.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Provides leadership and guidance to staff and matrix teams. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload, and performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided. Conducts annual performance management reviews.
  • 2. Leads and participates in the development of departmental plans, including resource planning, overall project scheduling, and reporting. Provides regular progress reports the management team.
  • 3. Maintains detailed knowledge of the Health Workforce quality data, databases, products, and services including development of reporting requirements.
  • 4. Leads and coordinates the development of specific indicators, metrics and analyses derived from the physician and other health workforce databases. This includes data linkage to other databases and collaborating with other departments and organizations to fully utilize the data.
  • 5. Provides support to internal and external strategic committees, which may include planning and organizing meetings, producing relevant supporting documentation, coordinating information dissemination, and undertaking followup activities, as required.
  • 6. Acts as a liaison between the team and other internal departments supporting corporate initiatives aligned with CIHI's strategic plan and corporate analytical plan.
  • 7. Prepares presentations for internal and external stakeholders on key strategic initiatives and develops briefing notes as required.
  • 8. Supports the department's strategic and operational planning, as well as the development of the annual budget.
  • 9. Establishes and maintains relevant contacts with internal and external stakeholders to support their understanding and use of health workforce data as required.
  • 10. Contributes to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on external committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences and other activities, as required.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in applied economics, health services research, statistics, health administration or a related field, or equivalent experience/education. Graduate degree is an asset.
  • Five years' experience working with health information.
  • 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience with a strong record of successful team engagement and project management.
