HML Contracting is looking for a versatile & skilled Yard Manager to join our team located in St Albert, AB.
Are you a hands-on handyman with expertise in carpentry and plumbing? Do you have experience operating machinery and hold a valid class 3 or 5 drivers license? We need you to join our dynamic team and take on a pivotal role which requires a blend of physical skills, mechanical aptitude and a keen eye for organization.
As our yard manager, you will be the backbone of our operations, ensuring our yard runs smoothly and efficiently.This role will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance, organizing the yard and tools, grounds maintenance, etc.

- Responsible and accountable for performing general maintenance and repairs, cleanup duties, and safety checks associated with various pieces of equipment and tools.
- Efficiently deliver and pick up equipment; ensure safe loading and unloading practices
- Manage fueling for all equipment, maintaining optimal operation.
- Organize and maintain a clean yard and shop environment, embodying our commitment to order and cleanliness.
- Adapt to outdoor work in varying weather conditions, demonstrating resilience and flexibility.
- Maintain electronic records of all maintenance activities, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
- Manage inventory to ensure maintenance materials and equipment are readily available without surplus.
- Offer support to team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Strictly adhere to company policies & safety standards, setting a good example for all.
- Oversee yard management, including parking arrangements, floating the yard and general groundskeeping.
- Employ mechanical knowledge to assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Experience operating a skid steer & Loader, while operating heavy equipment in a careful and efficient manner.
- Experience loading and unloading trailers.
- Ability to prioritize scheduled tasks and activities.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor environment.
- Expected to use initiative and good judgement and to work with limited supervision once tasks have been defined
- Valid class 5 driver's license with driver's abstract in good standing (Class 3 preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and repair a variety of equipment in the shop or field (preferred)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Physically capable of performing all duties as assigned (which may include lifting up to 50 lbs).
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Salary:
$22.00-$30.00 per hour
