Job Responsibilities

The following is a high-level description of the Communications Coordinator responsibilities and is not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Create and disseminate internal and external communications materials;
  • Collaborate on the development of a communications plan and oversee daily administration of the plan;
  • Draft, edit, and submit proposals;
  • Oversee the development, management, and maintenance of all online communication vehicles, including but not limited to:
  • The OpenCircle website;
  • Social media accounts.
  • Plan, develop, and execute internal communications with employees consistent with organizational policies and procedures;
  • Ensure that all materials are developed and distributed according to an appropriate timeline;
  • Monitor the OpenCircle Communications inbox;
  • Content writing for the OpenCircle Newsletter, social media platforms, and external relations;
  • Collaborate crossdepartmentally regarding budgeting for the department's resources;
  • Measure the effectiveness of the OpenCircle communications strategy;
  • Produce reports for internal analysis;
  • Measure return on investment (ROI) for all communications investments and activities;
  • Articulate the organizational mission and vision statements in all communication materials;
  • Understand and use media forms and format requirements;
  • Know the concerns of internal and external parties and actively address those concerns with effective communication;
  • Research and help to develop and implement new communications programs, including direct mail, social media, and other initiatives;
  • Provide editing services to ensure that all communications are appropriately worded (both in grammar and in content) and consistent with the company voice.

Qualifications:


  • 5 years' experience in a communications, marketing or relevant role;
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field;
  • Established knowledge of office procedures and practices;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grammar, punctuation, structure, spelling, tone, proofreading, clarity, and organization;
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe products;
  • Detail oriented, possessing strong analytical skills and the ability to work selfmanaged or collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Organized problem solver capable of thinking quickly and excelling in a performancedriven, resultsoriented work environment;
  • Experience of working within a demanding fastpaced environment to high standards.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multitasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Works well with others, and handles direction and feedback in a positive manner;
  • Indepth knowledge of the preparation of communications instruments;
  • Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements preferred;
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and ensure they are clearly communicated to an audience;
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, policies, education, community relations, demonstration, organization structure, social service, and government relations, as they relate to the organization.
