Position Description:


  • Reporting to the Manager, Brand Strategy, the Web Content Writer, oversees the assessment, audit, and quality of content in preparation for, and throughout the cycle of, The Ottawa Hospital's web transformation project. The Web Content Writer will work on The Ottawa Hospital Web Transformation team that includes the Project Manager, Web Transformation (PM); Senior Digital Content and Brand Engagement Strategist; Web Developers; Digital Solutions Department representatives; and writing team who will work together to transform the existing TOH web platforms. The internal team will also work very closely with an external web transformation agency (Agency) who will be spearheading the Web Transformation project.
Using the processes and procedures that will be engaged via the PM and the Agency, the Web Content Writer will help guide the editing and migration of existing content, and conceive, create, and develop persuasive content for The Ottawa Hospital's three digital platforms:

  • The Ottawa Hospital Intranet
  • MyHospital (Microsoft 360)
  • The primary role of the Web Content Writer is to edit, curate, create and disseminate content that-
  • Amplifies TOH's brand, enhances engagement with its key audiences (both internal and external)
  • Raises awareness of the institution's mission, vision, and values
  • Aligns with The Ottawa Hospital's strategic plan that focuses on taking a leadership role in helping reshape the future of healthcare to reflect 21stcentury needs and innovations, looking beyond 'the patient in the hospital' to also support 'the person in the community'.
  • Working with the web transformation team, the Web Content Writer will identify, edit, and create engaging content that promotes, protects, and enhances TOH's brand and reputation, while engaging closely with cross departmental leads to ensure that information is researched and captured accurately, and that content is produced, repurposed or developed in keeping with webbased best practices to create an engaging and inspired experience for the user.

What you will bring:


  • 4year University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field and/or experience;
  • A minimum of 4+ years' experience creating digital branded content in a corporate environment'
  • Proven success in creating compelling, persuasive, engaging professional branded content;
  • Experience partnering with teams to define, build, and maintain web experiences that are critical to growth, engagement, and retention;
  • Exceptional and adaptable verbal, communication and writing skills with a strong understanding of creating and edition content for web and producing content that is both easytoread, engaging, and accessible;
  • Ability to manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, create clear and attainable writing project objectives, build requirements, oversee the time, and scope of projects, manage constraints, and communicate progress and end results;
  • Strong analytical skills paired with a datainformed decisionmaking approach;
  • Ability to interpret and translate concepts, themes, and ideas into effective and appealing web content;
  • Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing. Ability to manage and accept feedback;
  • Ability to research, interview, write, proofread, and edit content; understand and integrate TOH style guide and standards, brand, tone, and image;
  • Ability to use sound judgement, creativity, imagination to translate complex ideas into clear and engaging content that is on brand and capable of engaging a broad range of audiences and fostering positive interaction;
