Job Summary

The Manager, Facility Management is responsible for the operations, maintenance and repair of the buildings, grounds and utility infrastructure.

The incumbent will ensure that all activities are performed safely, within budgets and in strict compliance with building regulatory and maintenance standards.

The activities include the building envelope (roofs and exterior walls), foundation systems, interior walls, floors and ceilings, HVAC systems, electrical and illumination systems, access controls, elevators systems, fire and life safety systems, energy management systems and automated building controls, plumbing systems, etc.

Main Responsibilities

Building Maintenance Operation Services

  • Manage operations of all the building services that include preventative maintenance plans, cleaning services, security access, mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Manage renovations, refurbishments and office moves to ensure that they run smoothly and in accordance to plans
  • Inspect and evaluate the building to ensure it meets government regulation such as the National Building Code of Canada and health and safety standards
  • Coordinator and manage building inventories, including providing analysis and reports on a systemwide level
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) evaluations on the building performance
Operational Cost and Contract Services

  • Manage the monthly operating budget ($2M $5M)
  • Manage and negotiate the work of all thirdparty vendor services contracts to ensure work orders performed are completed
  • Review quotations for procurement of parts, services, and labour
  • Verify and code all invoices to ensure the correct cost centre for accounting payment and the activities are in line with the work order completion
Staff Management

  • Manage facilities staff (2 to 30 people) in order to deliver service levels to facilities within the prescribed budget ensuring the provision of excellent customer service
  • Oversee employee supervision by working with First Line Supervisors and other key staff to select and hire
  • Ensure training, motivate, evaluate, and discipline department union employees
  • Manage a team of supervisors and union staff within a remote location and across time zones
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences and requires occasional travel.


Requirements:

Experience

Facility Management

  • Between 7 to 10 years of facility management experience with complex commercial or industrial building
  • Experience working with stakeholders to manage their expectations and engaging them to address project issues
  • Solid experience in sustainable building practices
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Facility Management, Business Management, or related Facility Management credential program
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification
  • Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset
