JOB DESCRIPTION:
Quality Manager
REPORTING TO:
General Manager
***:Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for APQP and process quality control and maintain ISO accreditation. In addition, the incumbent will supervise, train and motivate QA technicians, auditors and engineers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent is responsible for the evaluation, recommendation, development, maintenance and implementation of standard operating procedures for inspecting raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods based on their respective specifications.
The incumbent will support the CGL team and our OEM customers by undertaking the following:- Working with the management from support departments, the incumbent will handle component approval, manage supplier relationships; assess supplier suitability, monitor quality performance and provide feedback for improvement.
- Assuming a proactive role, the incumbent will record, maintain and communicate Quality Control and process data in order to document, better understand and improve the overall manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiencies by conducting, on an ongoing basis, analyses of Quality Control and production data to ensure that all products and services attain or exceed customer specifications.
- Maintain and improve upon the Quality Control database structure and functions to address user needs.
- Develop, maintain and control a Quality Assurance/Control Manual, which documents all procedures required for ISO certification.
- Implement corrective and preventative activities to "error proof" future production.
- Administer the CAR process as defined by the respective standard operating procedures and those of each customer.
- Coach, mentor, train and lead all Quality Control staff and support the quality control training of all CGL personnel.
- Good understanding of lean principles.
- Responsible for all quality activities in a build to print CNC machining and weld and fabrication environment.
- Manage and develop staff within their department.
- Report on a regular basis performance metrics for their department to the OPS group.
- Effectively manage communication throughout the organization.
- Product Verification and Certification in accordance with Quality Systems
- APQP and PPAP review and acceptance of supplied product plus submission of OEM customer PPAP packages
- Ensure product compliance to specification by ensuring relevant verification has occurred
- Accountable for the first article inspection and part inspections at both source and incoming
- Other duties as required
DESIRED EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- GD&T training.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements
- Working knowledge of CMM operation and programming in PC
- DIMAS
- Extensive knowledge of the ISO quality system and the ISO 9000 disciplines, SPC (Statistical Process Control), DOE (Design of Experiments) and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), CI (Continuous Improvement), CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) standards is necessary.
- Proficient in Inspection Methods (Measurement & Evaluation), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T), blueprint reading, 8D, Pareto, statistical Analysis (SPC), Proficient in Product Qualification Methodology (PPAP, FMEA, APQP, Control Plans)
- Must have a valid drivers license and be able to visit customers in the USA
- Experience in a CNC machining (turning and milling) manufacturing environment with knowledge of casting, forgings, and fabrications
