The
Controller will strengthen the company by identifying financial strategies to support a growing business with a focus on attraction, retention, engagement, development, and compliance.

They will provide leadership and coaching to the Finance team, and management throughout the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities

Finance:

  • Oversee AR, AP, and Financial Accounting
  • Lead the cash flow planning, reporting, and forecasting
  • Manage the banking including monthly reporting, and payments and transfers
  • Manage monthend and yearend close processes
  • Responsible for the performance of the Finance team including daytoday coaching and performance evaluation and development of each individual
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure that all financial reporting adheres to GAAP and that internal controls meet generally accepted auditing guidelines
  • Manage the financial system of the organization ensuring maximum productivity to meet the needs of the business today and in the future
  • Work closely with Management to provide financial information critical to the success of their areas of responsibility
  • Provide leadership for the accounting strategy, to optimize the company's financial performance and strategic position
  • Manage the yearend process and relationship with external accountants, analyze results and develop process improvements based on the results
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements
  • Develop internal controls and procedures to protect and safeguard the company's assets
  • Hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting staff

Qualifications and Experience

  • Postsecondary degree in Business, Commerce or Finance
  • CPA, (CGA, CMA or CA) designation
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a senior finance/accounting manager role
  • Proven ability to successfully lead, manage, develop, and motivate teams
  • Experience in business partnering with senior members of the management team
  • Critical thinker with the ability to think outside the box, understand the big picture and develop tactical and strategic business solutions
  • Successfully lead and execute projects within finance and other business areas as assigned
  • Solid business acumen and strategic thinking abilities with a willingness to perform the more tactical, daytoday duties when necessary
  • Ability to multitask and juggle conflicting priorities on time and accurately
  • Team player with the ability to take ownership of all projects involved
  • Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Detail orientation with a logical, methodical approach to problemsolving
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with and influence the decisionmaking of senior management through a polished executive presence and consultative management style
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to address and influence all levels within the organization
  • Success in turning around business performance to achieve higher enterprise value
