Reporting to the Manager, Business & Systems Analysis Chapter, the
Business & Systems Consultant has deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general operations.

They rely on their expertise, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and to perform a variety of tasks.

The Business & Systems Consultant conducts needs analysis, writes user stories, collaborates with others, and supports the team to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Someone who can combine expert business analysis skills, a strong technical acumen, a strategic mindset, diplomatic facilitation, and leadership skills to elicit and build requirements that enable exceptional solutions for business partners across Sun Life's business organizations.

What will you do?

  • Establish and maintain trusted advisory roles with clients by gathering and analyzing information to provide recommendations that address and resolve business issues.
  • Champion the BSA role by actively promoting learning across the team and contribute to the continuous improvement of the practice by leading initiatives.

What do you need to succeed?

  • A talented facilitator who is skilled in negotiation and influencing.
  • A strategic thinker who appropriately applies a variety of planning, analysis, elicitation, modelling, and documentation techniques to accurately define and communicate requirements to help successfully deliver on initiatives.
  • A collaborative team member who continuously strives to improve the client experience, our team, and our processes.
  • Experience in all phases of a project life cycle, including proficiency with various requirements elicitation techniques
  • Proven capability within the Agile Framework, lean iterative, and process improvement methodology
  • Strong analytical skills and comfortable with data requirements and related data activities
  • Superior communication skills with ability to communicate both complex business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions
  • Sound problemsolving skills with the ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply
  • Strong interpersonal / relationship building skills with technical and business partners
  • Ability to synthesize abstract/complex concepts and ideas into simple, understandable, userdriven requirements and user stories
  • A desire to embrace a culture of trust and complete transparency, and ability to deal well with ambiguity
  • Open to learning new ideas outside scope or knowledge skillset
  • Ability to act in an advisory capacity as well as coach/mentor Business Analysts
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to bring opinions, comments, and thoughts forward
  • Skilled in best practices to drive discussions and manage business meetings to meet objectives
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required
    for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual Englishspeaking manager outside Quebec.

Preferred Skills/Assets:


  • Deep knowledge of relevant technologies, processes, systems, and capabilities related to supporting a microservice architecture (ex. REST APIs, web services, etc.)
