How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

Perform the following tasks under general supervision:

  • Support and deliver the Girls Can Too (GCT) and Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) programs.
  • Attend community events to distribute resources and deliver activities with a sustainability and climate change focus.
  • Deliver seasonal programs and recreational events.
  • Greet and engage with visitors in a pleasant and helpful manner to provide exceptional visitor experiences.
  • Learn program content to be able to effectively deliver interactive programs to various audiences of varying ages.
  • Assist with creation of interpretive displays and activities.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify any major hazards, incidents and issues.
  • Provide first aid when required. Complete injury and incident reports. Facilitate EMS access to the park.
  • Maintain supplies and educational spaces in neat and tidy condition.

What will you need to succeed:

  • Actively pursuing or possess a post-secondary degree/diploma in the field of biology, environmental studies, education or related discipline, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license in good standing.
  • Active and current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Experience working with youth groups in delivering programs and activities is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience delivering environmental, or nature programs is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with TRCA programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of the ecology and flora/fauna of the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario.
  • Strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Ability to deliver programs to audiences of various ages, adapting style to ensure audience appropriateness.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative within a set of guidelines and procedures, and to take direction and notes when given.
