Location

Position Overview

  • Aquatics Assistant starting rate of pay is $17.29/hour
  • Instructor/Lifeguard starting rate of pay is $19.65/hour
  • Senior Lifeguard starting rate of pay is $22.08/hour

Responsibilities & Requirements

Aquatics Assistant
Responsible for assisting in the safe and enjoyable delivery of the City of Burlington learn to swim programs. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public. Aquatics Assistants may also be responsible for water slide, wading pool rock climbing wall and other duties assigned.


Aquatics Assistants minimum age is 15, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid with CPR C and Lifesaving Society Assistant Instructor award (or equivalent).

All awards must be current. Airway Management and HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification will be considered an asset.


Instructor Lifeguard


Responsible for instructing swimming lessons for all ages; supervising swimmers at public/rental swim times; performing routine maintenance; providing excellent customer service to participants; supervising change rooms; rendering first aid as needed; enforcing policies, rules and regulations of the pool facility; ensuring patron safety, helping maintain pool equipment in safe working condition; assisting with pool clean up and performing other duties assigned.

Instructor/Lifeguards minimum age is 16. Must be certified as both Lifeguard and Instructor. National Lifeguard, Airway Management, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructors, Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructors. All awards must be current (within two years). Standard First Aid with CPR C (current within three years). HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.


Senior Lifeguard


Responsible for all activities pertaining to pool, facility and staff during the time which they are on duty; Ensure facility and programs meet all Ontario Public Pool health regulations at all times; supervise, train and evaluate Aquatic staff; Maintain positive customer relations at all times; and performing other duties as assigned.


Senior Lifeguards minimum age is 16 with a minimum of two (2) years experience as an Instructor Guard; Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid with CPR C, Airway Management, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor.

All awards must be current. HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification. Aquatic Supervisor qualification will be considered an asset.
