Novus Plants Wholesale Nursery is searching for a lead propagator. We specialize in rare and southern hemisphere plants, growing for sale to landscapers, gardeners and garden centers. We are located in North Saanich, BC just outside of Victoria.

About the Job:

Head propagator will be responsible for all aspects of propagation and production of stock until the 4" stage, and working with our grower to work the propagated material into our production schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Learn, understand and lead an assistant through each stage of producing quality cuttings to liners.
Monitor scion source material for the ideal timing of taking cuttings.
Collecting cuttings and seeds.
Monitor cuttings throughout the rooting process, and work them into production into liners.
Monitor for pests and work with our grower to manage pests as needed.
Track production and losses in our inventory database.
Forecast and plan production based on sales and anticipated needs.
Assist with other areas of nursery operations as required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Must be able to take direction and work independently with an attention to detail.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
A valid driver's license is not necessary, but a strong asset.
Experience in propagation by cuttings
A strong work ethic, with an ability to lead by example
Computer literacy (MS Office), scanning, etc, we will train you on our database.
Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
Able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Punctual and dependable.
This job requires extended periods of walking and standing, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and the ability to lift 40 pounds.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-430pm

Weekends/extra hours as needed
