Overall Purpose:


Power To Be is a social impact organization that creates access to nature for youth, families, and adults living with cognitive, physical, financial, and social barriers.

Reporting to and working directly with the Marketing and Communications Lead and working closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications in a well-organized department of three people, the Social Content & Engagement Specialist contributes to Power To Be's success by providing dynamic support to the team.

The Social Content & Engagement Specialist is responsible for supporting internal and external marketing and communications projects that align with Power To Be's mission, vision, and values.

The role is responsible for managing Power To Be's social media accounts, overseeing a stock of promotional items, conducting graphic design tasks, and providing other general administrative support to the team.

The person in this role will be a skilled communicator and critical thinker with superior organization and time-management skills who is comfortable working directly with all different kinds of people, including community members, program participants, and senior leadership.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing & Communications

  • Create and implement social media strategies across platforms in support of Power To Be initiatives, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Responsible for daytoday fullcycle content creation, strategy, and monitoring
  • Engage as the primary point of contact for photography and videography, including editing
  • Under the guidance of a graphic designer, use templates to create and distribute print and digital marketing materials [e.g. ads, posters, reports, presentations] for Power To Be programs, marketing and communications plans, and major fundraising events
  • Provide support in the development of annual and quarterly communications and marketing plans
  • Design, order, maintain, and oversee the stock of Power To Be's branded promotional materials and event supplies: this includes a monthly inventory review and reordering of items as needed
  • Basic website administration using WordPress
  • Create, oversee, and maintain the Marketing and Communications department's digital filing systems
  • Ensure Power To Be brand guidelines are used in all communications streams
  • Communicate with staff, volunteers, and external community members in a way that represents Power To Be's mission, vision, and values
  • Provide other support to Marketing and Communications team members as needed
Operations

  • Works collaboratively with other departments to accomplish shared tasks on committees, taskforces, and working groups
  • Adhere to all Power To Be policies and procedures and applicable legislation as they relate to staff and volunteer practices
  • Participate in a Power To Be program once per quarter
  • Support community and fundraising events as needed
  • Complete all work in accordance with communications/public relations codes of professional ethics, standards, and practices, privacy regulations, and relevant law
Performs other related duties, as required.

Key Skills, Knowledge, & Attributes

  • Ability to use Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Outlook, iPhone, and MacOS
  • Knowledge of online and inperson communication best practices to a level appropriate for the role
  • Knowledge of branding, marketing, and communications strategies and concepts
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines

Particular Working Conditions:


Requirements:


  • As per the Ministry of Justice requirements for organizations that work with vulnerable populations, a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required
  • 1 year of experience providing administrative support in a marketing and communications and/or fundraising environment, preferably with a social impact organization, or 1 year of postsecondary education in a marketing and communications program
  • 1 year of experience creating social media content for a business/organization
  • Access to reliable transportation to get to and from work at Prospect Lake
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID19
Assets

  • 2 years of experience creating social media content for an organization, and/or 2 years of experience with photography/videography
  • Experience working with a nonprofit
