Job Description:

The Physical Literacy and Community Connections (PLCC) program enhances school programming with authentic communitybased learning opportunities for students within the Foundations programs encompassing grades 112. The aim of the PLCC program is to equip our students to the best of their ability with transferable, functional life skills.

Responsibilities:

Planning, implementing, transporting and evaluating programming to ensure it meets and challenges the unique learning goals of our most diverse learners.
Adapting and modifying activities to meet the needs of each individual student.
Enhance and continue to develop programs and outings to meet the needs and peak the interests of our everchanging student population.
Connecting with the Foundations Classroom Teachers/Cohort to strategize, plan, create transition opportunities, make adaptations to programming and activities, and ensure goals and student support plans are followed and current.
Work off of the academic goals in the classroom and build learning connections through communitybased learning opportunities. This includes planning outings, creating transition opportunities, and adapting and modifying activities based on each individual student's needs and goals.
Create preteaching and social story materials that align with the inclass learning.
Pretaught skills or concepts ensure expectations around learning and safety for all while on an outing and within the school setting.
Connect with and build working relationships with members of the Red Deer community to create safe, agerespectful and authentic learning experiences.
Maintaining a class 2 or 4 license with Sendorsement in good standing.
Ensuring the vehicles used for transporting students are in safe and optimal performance via pre and posttrip inspections.
Keeping and staying within the yearly allotted budget.

Assets Required:

Educational background in areas of sport/recreation, community outreach and/or social work, with expertise in making adaptations and modifications on a casebycase basis.
Class 2 or 4 Driver's License with S-Endorsement
Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
Handle with Care or Equivalent Crisis Management Intervention Training
