Descripción general del rol:

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for supporting the Production Manager in the coordination of the day-to-day activities at one of our 2000 sow farrow to finish Genetic Nucleus operation.

This position will give management and oversight to the Breeding & Farrowing departments OR the Nursery, Finisher, Testing/Selections and Sales/Exports departments.

This position is based in Carlyle, Saskatchewan.


Responsabilidades y deberes esenciales:

  • Accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline
  • Manages a generally homogeneous team of professionals and/or supervisors; adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and meet service and/or operational challenges
  • Impacts the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness objectives
  • Conduct all people management responsibilities for direct reports, including but not limited to labor management, performance management, recruitment and training and development
  • Ensure appropriate staff training and onboarding of new employees
  • Create action plans to ensure the achievement of reproductive key performance indicators on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis
  • Assist in the development of, as well as deliver, the agreed upon budget area of responsibility which includes:
  • Execution of both feeding practices and budgeted feed volumes on a monthly and annual basis;
  • Achieve or exceed production targets; and
  • Order feed and supplies
  • Coordination of animal flows and weekly volume objective by genetic line
  • Execution of health management programs and health reporting functions across the area of responsibility
  • Maintain record keeping within all software platforms to ensure records are fully updated on a weekly basis
  • Ensure area of responsibility is accomplishing the following:
  • Adherence to the Company's Safety Program requirements and guidelines;
  • Adhere to biosecurity protocols;
  • Compliance of all company policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Willingness to change plans as needed;
  • Cleanliness and sanitation of the farm;
  • Accurate and timely production information and records;
  • Ensure timely treatment of sick animals with a variety of pharmaceuticals as needed; and
  • Compliance with all environmental laws and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to the Company's animal care policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal's needs, providing access to adequate water and high quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasia
  • Direct and prioritize maintenance personnel as it relates to their allocated time in the facility
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
  • Requires indepth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines

Requisitos:


  • Limited travel required; 510% based on production needs
  • Minimum of 2 years' experiencein livestock production with proven results
  • Ability and willingness to effectively manage 2+ fulltime employees
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to work hours needed operationally, which can vary frequently and include weekend, evening, holidays and emergency situations
  • Willingness to shower daily in and out of facility
