Expected Number of Hours: 37.5 every two weeks ( not a guarantee of hours )


Position Summary:


As an integral member of the Medical Day Clinic team, the Clerical Associate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: registration of patients, entering patient demographics into Meditech, verifying and updating medical insurance benefits, directing and coordinating communication in and out of the department, processing physician orders, requesting appointments for clinics, coordinating diagnostic tests, and other appointments.


The Clerical Associate must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

This is position will work days.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending.

This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Other duties as assigned and as per job fact sheet.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Medical Office Administration program diploma required
  • Medical Terminology certiciate required
  • Experience preferred in a health care setting
  • Computer experience required
  • Recent experience with the Meditech system modules, including Community Wide Scheduling required
  • Experience with order entry (Lab and DI modules) and admissions required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) essential
  • Must be able to deal compassionately and effectively with patients and families
  • Must be able to manage multiple demands in a fast paced working environment
  • Selfdirected and works well in a team setting
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
  • The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Valid criminal record checks are in original format and dated with two months from date of conditional offer from CMH._
