Qualifications
This position requires the completion of Early Childcare Educator level 1 and a minimum of 2 years' experience. If applicable, this position requires a minimum of 2-years continuous sobriety.


Duties & Responsibilities

A.
ADMINISTRATION

  • Accurate and secure file management, including, but not limited to, medical records, medication logs, and daily charting. Documentation completed in "HI Mamma" App.
  • Ensure completion of the Daily Communication Book informs parents about their child's daily childcare experience, including, but not limited to, feeding, diaper changes, sleep, activities and play, and general mood.
  • Attend relevant case management meetings and be prepared to discuss progress, problems and/or concerns, as well as contribute meaningfully to family case planning.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to develop and implement childcare curricula (included in "HI Mamma" App) that supports and promotes the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development of children.
  • Complete and file incident reports.

B.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES

  • Training and orientation of all new staff.
  • Conduct regular childcare staff meetings, ensuring that all staff are aware of upcoming intakes, including a background of child history and specific needs.
  • Provide opportunities for staff debriefs, and support any concerns or ideas brought forward by childcare staff.
  • Ensure all staff are familiar with and adhere to all Policies and Procedures, including but not limited to: Child Guidance Policy, Supervision Policy and Procedure, Accident and Illness Policy and Procedure.
  • Ensure all staff uphold the values upon which this program is founded. This is to be done through modelling, direct teaching, and providing new hire packages that include this information.
  • Monitor and manage the "HI Mamma" communication app. Ensure that all staff and parents have access to the app and understand what it is used for and how to use it.

C.
CLIENT RELATIONS

  • Support and guide positive interaction and communication with clients and their children to ensure their physical, social-emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural needs are met.
  • Provide support and mentoring for mothers and their child(ren).
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, singing songs, taking children outside, providing healthy touch, such as infant massage and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, music and physical activity and movement.
  • Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or concerns with staff and mothers, to support the child's learning experiences inside and outside childcare hours.
  • Work collaboratively with caseworkers, the on-site lactation consultant and mothers who are breastfeeding and/or pumping to ensure that their feeding goals are achieved.
  • Observe children for signs of potential medical, learning, or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor.
  • Observe children for signs of neglect and/or emotional, physical, sexual abuse. Prepare reports and communicate concerns with appropriate parties, including, the Clinical Director, social workers, and other relevant staff members. This includes, but is not limited to, noting injuries, hygiene, attachment style, significant changes in mood and/or behavior.

D.
HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Ensure and monitor the maintenance of the childcare space and equipment, assist in and/or delegate housekeeping duties, including regular sanitization of toys, furniture, and equipment, such as strollers, sleds, and feeding chairs, etc. Develop daily and weekly sanitization checklist to be completed.
  • Ensure all childcare staff are trained in the proper preparation and storage of all foods, including formula, milk, breastmilk, and solids.
Monitor clients to ensure they are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If there are concerns, management is to be immediately advised.


  • Ensure clients and other staff adhere to program policies and procedures related to Health and Safety.
  • Maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.

E.
OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED

  • Other duties as required.

Available shifts and compensation:
We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $ $21.00/hour.
