Your Opportunity:

Unit 39 is a 32 bed in-patient acute medical teaching and pulmonary unit.

Unit 39 provides care for pre/post lung transplant patients and specializes in alternative forms of ventilation including Mouthpiece Ventilation, Diaphramatic Pacing and chronic home ventilation.

Unit 39 is the dedicated unit at the PLC to receive patients requiring acute BIPAP for management of respiratory needs and for patients requiring treatment for Pulmonary Hypertension.

Additionally, this unit receives ALS patients for ongoing management.

As the Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator, PLC Unit 39 you will be a clinical leader and will be responsible for the delivery of programs based on identified needs which include legislation, continued competencies, quality improvement, strategic plans and objectives and organizational needs necessary to ensure best practice in the care of our patients.

You will provide clinical leadership through participating in the development and ongoing maintenance of zonal and provincial educational initiatives and clinical policies and procedures in addition to providing educational support and programs for Patients, Families, the Clinical Team members and members of other teams within PLC.

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is expected to work collaboratively with staff and a large multidisciplinary team.

The CNE is expected to demonstrate:

excellent communication and organization skills; problem solving, creative thinking and conflict resolution skills; the ability to effectively provide feedback to other team members in a meaningful manner and to receive feedback from others; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the health team and demonstrated flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.


Description:


As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team.

You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development.

You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice.

You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Minimum 5 years nursing experience in acute medicine. Experience with pulmonary patients, lung transplant patients, and Pulmonary Hypertension patients within past 1 year. Chronic Vent certification. Recent experience within last 1 year of administering Epoprostenol for treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension. Recent CNE, NC, or Liaison RN experience in last 1 year.


Preferred Qualifications:

Leadership development courses in last 2 years. Experience with in-service/program development, delivery & measurement of learning outcomes. Experience leading quality improvement and change management. Quality Improvement certification (AIW Yellow/Green Belt or equivalent). Change Management certification (PROSCI or equivalent). Knowledge of adult learning principles. Current It's Your Move training certificate.
