Job Summary
The Secretary I provides secretarial support and is responsible for using Meditech software to organize and record clinical appointments, telephone reception and corresponding with patients concerning appointments and wait list management for assigned physicians.
The Secretary I is also responsible for the organization and maintenance of clinical charts; ordering office and other supplies; typing of clinical transcription; dicta typing; typing correspondence such as medical letters and administrative correspondence; preparation of presentation material using available software and assisting in the preparation of teaching and research materials; filing of clinical and administrative material and correspondence; and other clerical and general office duties as assigned.

- Occasionally lifts objects weighing less than 10 lbs.
- Constantly sits, but work provides the opportunity to occasionally stand and walk within the office environment.
- Occasionally required to bend, and stretch to perform work.
- Constantly required to perform fine finger/precision work while using a computer mouse.
Job Qualifications
- Successful completion of a twoyear Office Administration program OR completion of a oneyear Office Administration program from an approved/recognized college supplemented by two years of experience within the last four in a progressively responsible clerical role is required.
- Successful completion of an approved/recognized medical terminology course is required.
- A medical transcription score of 70% is required. A medical transcription test may be administered by the Department of Human Resources.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook is required.
- A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
