Located between London, ON and Sarnia, ON and just off Highway 402, the Township of Warwick is a growing community of about 4,500.

This is an exciting time for the Parks and Recreation Department with a recently completed Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Culture master plan and the recent opening of the East Lambton Community Complex.

Position Overview
The Lead Hand Parks and Recreation Department is a full-time position that works 40 hours per week.

Reporting to the Manager Parks and Recreation, the Lead Hand is a working foreman who will be responsible for the safe day to day operation and maintenance of the Parks and Recreation facilities, grounds and public spaces including the East Lambton Community Complex.

They will assist in supervising the daily operation and maintenance of the arena and arena systems including the refrigeration systems and ancillary equipment, HVAC, lighting, ice making, fire protection, workplace safety, communications, etc.

The position will also be responsible for the supervision of all Parks and Recreation operations staff with the support of the Manager Parks and Recreation.

The position will interact directly with the General Public and provide event support.

This position is a Union position, CUPE Local This position requires regular shift availability during weekday, evenings and weekends. OMERS Pension and Green Sheild Benefit Program


Qualifications

  • Minimum Secondary School Diploma
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a related field is an asset or an equivalent combination work experience.
  • Certificate in recreation, facility operations, parks or related field considered an asset.
  • Completion of basic refrigeration, ice making and maintenance (Certified Ice Technician) horticulture & parks (Playground Practitioners Certification), facility maintenance of buildings, turf management or related relevant courses would be considered an asset.
  • 35 years of experience in parks, arena and or gymnasium setting preferably in a Municipal environment
  • A valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of methods, procedures, principles and practices involved with maintenance and operation of parks and recreational facilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a public setting.
