Role
Reporting to the Director of Field Operations, the Health and Safety Consultant is responsible assisting clients in the GTA with managing the Health and Safety program and conducting site inspections to ensure regulations for construction projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Consulting and Development
- Assist clients with all aspects of Health and Safety services
- Perform regular observations of all work areas to ensure physical conditions and behavioral conformance, provide observation reports to the appropriate personnel
- Assist clients by attending safety meetings and providing professional guidance on OHSA and construction regulation requirements
Investigations and Prevention
- Conduct incident/accident investigations, determine the causes and develop recommendations to prevent future occurrences
- Followup on implemented preventative and corrective measures to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
- Review corrective actions for nonconformance with site management in accordance of company policies, applicable regulations, and best practices
Training and Communication
- Conduct worker orientation with clients and relevant persons involved to review safety programs and procedures
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings as requested by the client
- Provide Health and Safety awareness training when necessary
Skills and Requirements
years Health and Safety experience within the Construction industry
- Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma, or Certificate an asset
- NSCO Certification an asset
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act ("Green Book") and relevant regulations e.g. Construction Projects
- Ability to work independently with little direction as well as in a team setting
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problemsolving skills
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Valid Class G Driver's License
- Reliable vehicle is a must
