We are currently seeking energetic and dedicated Continuing Care Assistants (CCA) to join our dynamic team of community support caregivers dedicated to helping patients in our community, with activities of daily living.

Halifax Regional Municipality (Dartmouth, NS, Halifax, NS, Bedford, NS, and Surrounding Areas)


Job Type:
Casual, Part-Time and Full-Time Positions Available


Position Start Date:
As soon as possible


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides personal care to the patient (ie. Grooming, dressing, bathing, etc.)
  • Provides assistance with a variety of household tasks (ie. Meal assistance, light cleanup duties, etc.)
  • Provides cognitive, social, emotional, psychological, support to the patient and family
  • Using work device, document information required for each patient visit
  • Adhere to the ParaMed policies in all interactions with patients, families or other parties ensuring privacy and confidentiality
  • Escalate patientrelated issues to supervisors as needed

Qualifications:


  • CCAIT designation (or current enrollment/completion of the PLAR program)
  • Experience in providing personal care is required
  • Nursing background or extensive PSW experience will also be considered
  • Experience with elderly populations is preferred
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is strongly preferred as travel to patient residences is required
  • Ability to effectively communicate both through oral and written mediums;
  • Able to provide a current criminal check with clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS) if selected
  • Current CPR and First Aid obtained within Canada
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion, tact and diplomacy when interacting with residents/patients and their families
