Who we are ?
La Fédération des coopératives du Nouveau-Québec is owned by its fourteen member co-ops in the Inuit communities of Nunavik.

FCNQ was established in 1967 to provide the rapidly growing cooperative movement with more effective powers and services to help attain their vision "Atautsikut" Together—working to develop as a people, leaving none behind.


Responsibilities:


Under the supervision of the Nunavik Art Manager, the art assistant will support the manager in the product handling and sales of Inuit Art.


Product Handling and Data Entry:

  • Receive, unpack new inventory and enter data in ERP;
  • Photograph artwork and enter information in database;
  • Prepare new artwork for display in showroom;
  • Pack orders for takeout and for shipping;
  • Prepare inventory reports;
  • Ensure proper storage and maintain list of palletized artwork;
  • Execute minor repairs to artwork;
  • Maintain showroom and packing/unpacking areas.
  • Manage shipments and prepare waybills;

Sales and Reports:

  • Greet and assist customers in the showroom;
  • Assist in the preparation of and attend trade shows and other events;
  • Produce reports for extra payments to artists;
  • As requested by auditors, execute physical inventory, consolidate and correct Physical and ERP system artwork inventory.
  • Prepare cash sales invoices and process payments;

Other:

  • Support the department in the absence of the Manager and the Advisor.
  • Any other related tasks requested by the manager.

Requirements:


  • College degree in the field of arts;
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as an artist or experience in other related museum and art gallery work or art sales (an asset).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Knowledge of photography (an asset);
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator (an asset);
  • Inuit Art Market background (an asset);
  • Knowledge of Inuktitut is considered an asset.
  • Able to communicate in French and in English, both verbally and written.
  • Artistic leaning, good communicator, team player and independent worker;
  • Good physical strength;
  • Attention to details.
**Note:
WORK CONDITIONS

  • Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week (in office);
  • Available to travel to Nuvavik occasionally;
  • Handling a load weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs).
