This team has the honour and privilege of working with Indigenous communities on the traditional territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Qayqayt and Tsawwassen First nations, offering a unique experience to engage with and learn in deep and meaningful ways.

The team works in ways that honour truth-telling, wisdom of community and culture and focuses on creative ways to meet the needs of Indigenous children, youth and families.


The Team Leader of Indigenous Services collaborates with diverse community partners to deliver a broad range of services while ensuring culturally safe and trauma informed practices that support and honour Indigenous peoples' cultural systems.

Job Requirements:

Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements


1.


Preferred Credentials:


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care
    OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare
    OR:
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
    OR:

NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • At least 2 years of jobspecific work experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.

Expanded Credentials:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor's Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field
    OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field
    AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree.

NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of jobspecific work experience OR At least 3 years of jobspecific work experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.

Human Services fields include:
Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Preferred education credentials
    AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
  • Currently hold full delegation (C6) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Children, Youth and Families.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

About this Position:

These Team Leader positions will be in Child Protection, Family Services and Permanency Planning.

There are currently 3 permanent opportunities available and 3 temporary opportunities available until January 9, 2026. These temporary opportunities may become permanent.
