What we offer


In accordance with the high standards and integrity of the Mattamy organization, as well as adherence to generally accepted building practices, the New Home Technician actively supports the Company Mission of The Best Homeowner Experience by assessing and performing repairs to outstanding items in Homeowners homes.

The New Home Technician strives for efficient and high
- quality results and is focused on customer service throughout every touchpoint with the home and the Homeowner.


What you'll do

  • Accountable for deficiency cleanup of any items identified in Builder, City, Predelivery, and any other inspections, as listed in Specific Responsibilities
  • Comply with Mattamy's health and safety policy and report noncompliance
  • Provide a list of required materials and supplies to direct supervisor, weekly
  • Know and understand Mattamy Low Rise Division's quality policy and requirements
  • Have a professional, clean and neat appearance
  • Maintain housekeeping in their workspace and protect finished surfaces
  • Meet regularly with direct supervisor at designated times to discuss completed work and work to be assigned to trades
  • Proactive, daily review of work orders
  • Develop a constructive and helpful working relationship with Homeowners
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Basic arithmetic skills, for example, ability to take measurements, is essential
  • Be able to work well under pressure
  • Several years' experience in the construction industry, such as performing renovations, maintenance or repairs in residential or commercial properties
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in multiple construction trades such as carpentry, drywall, painting, etc. is a requirement, as is knowledge of various tools and equipment.
  • Generally handy
  • Comfortable in the use of technology, such as smartphones, tablets or computers to record, review and communicate information
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to communicate at a professional level in the English language
  • Flexible, with the willingness and ability to travel daily to assigned sites and to work at locations across the division
  • Must have a valid driver's license, regular access to a vehicle and provide own tools

Bonus points

  • Completion of high school education level or higher is preferred, but not required
  • Framing knowledge for assessing deficient work such as point loads, trusses, drywall prep, etc. is an asset
  • Ontario Building Code knowledge for railing heights, picket spacing, fume proofing, fire stop, grading, etc. is an asset.
