Position Summary
Research operations, infrastructure, systems and programs are funded by public and private organizations in the magnitude of hundreds of millions of dollars at UHN annually.
scientists, trainees, support staff, research and operations leadership and external organizations.
The Strategic Research Project team is a multi-disciplinary, high performing project team that will support and manage the development and execution of strategic and high priority research initiatives.
This will include projects that contribute to the transformation of clinical research, UHN collaborative centres, Business Hub innovation and data strategies.
The Manager, Strategic Research Projects, works closely with stakeholders to guide the strategic decision-making process when developing and implementing institution-level strategic projects.
Duties
- Plans and develops institutionwide communications for strategic projects; collates and reviews feedback; facilitates planning sessions and presents goforward options to senior leadership for deliberation
- Leads the development and implementation of strategic projects to enhance research infrastructure, operations, systems and programs in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Supports the planning, development, implementation and reporting of strategic institutional research priorities.
- Works closely with departments and stakeholders across research to align strategic initiatives with operational needs and ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycles.
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with strategic projects and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
- Establish KPI's and metrics to measure the success of strategic projects. Monitor and evaluate project performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Implement change management processes to facilitate smooth transitions and adoption of new initiatives within the organization, addressing stakeholder concerns, and providing support and training as needed.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including principal investigators, research personnel and support staff to gather feedback, address concerns, and build support for strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- At minimum, Master's degree in Health Informatics or Administration, Technology, Science, Business, or related field required
- PhD degree in Health sciencerelated discipline would be an asset
- Laboratory or clinical science background required
- Minimum four (4) years of project management experience or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of project management standards
- Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
- Experience in delivering managementlevel presentations, training and/or end user support
- Selfstarter with the ability to work independently, prioritize and get things done
- Comfortable working in a fastpaced environment and dealing with ambiguity
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies an asset
- Experience in writing and editing of scientific and technical documents an asset
