Adult Learning and Literacy is a branch of the Student Access and Success Division of Manitoba Advanced Education and Training.
The branch funds and registers Adult Learning Centres and Adult Literacy Programs within Manitoba, enabling access to non-credit literacy and high school level programming for adults across Manitoba.
The branch administers the Adult Learning Centres Act and corresponding regulation.Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must have a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to travel throughout Manitoba and be away from home overnight
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Must be fluently bilingual (French and English)
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Completion of postgraduate studies in education or certificate in adult education. An equivalent combination of other education/training may be considered
- Experience teaching adults and developing instructional and assessment materials
- Experience planning and developing educational programs for adult learners
- Experience monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of educational programs
- Experience developing and delivering professional development activities for teachers/instructors/peers
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with educational partners
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work in, and adapt to, an environment with changing priorities and demands
- Excellent written communication skills in both English and French including the ability to prepare accurate, clear, and concise professional correspondence, briefings, and reports to assist in decision making
- Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and French including the ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely
Desired:
- Experience working with and supporting the needs of diverse learner groups, including Indigenous and newcomer learners and learners with disabilities
Duties:
This bilingual-designated position provides oversight of educational programming for adult learning centres and adult literacy programs, conducting site visits throughout Manitoba, developing and delivering professional development to centre staff, and providing program, policy, outcome, and financial accountability analysis to support funding decisions and innovation in adult education.
The position is responsible for supporting development of strategic and operational plans that aim to advance adult education policy and practice in Manitoba.
This position will focus on the following high priority initiatives: 1) developing strategies and policies to strengthen transitions and pathways for learners; 2) developing data-driven approaches to improving accountability and outcomes for learners; 3) planning and leading stakeholder engagement activities and needs assessments; 4) supporting the development of an Adult Literacy Strategy and a province-wide strategy for accessible and coordinated Adult Education Services in Manitoba; and 5) supporting the closure of the GED program and the implementation of the new Canadian Adult Education Credential to replace the GED.- Advertisement # 4293
