The District Operations team is looking for a Station Duty Clerk (Temporary as Required) to play a pivotal role in supporting the needs of our Service.

About the Role - How you will Contribute to the Service:

This role is responsible for providing information and assistance to the public, other police services and members of the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS); receiving and evaluating complaints, determining the appropriate course of action and; monitoring the safety, security and well-being of persons in custody, citizens attending the division and police personnel.


Key activities include:

  • Provides information and assistance to the public and HRPS members regarding emergency and nonemergency situations. Gathers and evaluates information, provides information or advice as appropriate and determines appropriate course of action to facilitate an appropriate outcome.
  • Acts as a liaison and provides assistance and support to outside nonpolice agencies including CAS, Bylaw officers, schools, Parole and Probation and numerous community agencies. appropriate and determines appropriate course of action to facilitate an appropriate outcome
  • Takes walkin or phonein reports and complaints. Prepares occurrence reports for lost or stolen property or other concerns, and enters on Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or NICHE Records Management System as appropriate.
  • Receives requests for Criminal Records checks and Freedom of Information requests. Collects payment, issues receipts, issues forms and forwards Information and Records Services for completion.
  • Accepts and processes found property. Releases property to owners when required.
  • Enters Provincial Offence Notices (PON) on CPIC/NICHE and Court Control Sheets. Seals and sends PONs to court. Enters data on Officer Activity sheets.
  • Maintains files and records. Copies and distributes records to HRPS units as required.
  • Receives persons reporting for Bail/Probation and Parole. Confirms identity, completes CPIC check for warrants and compliance. Completes Record of Persons Reporting and signs for verification of reporting condition.
  • Designated First Aid provider for both HRPS employees and the public.

Note:

The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, driving record and a criminal background screen.

Hourly Rate of Pay:
$41.33 per hour
