WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Personal & Commercial Banking (P&CB) Data Management Office is modernizing data governance and data management practices across P&CB business lines.
The Manager, Metadata Management role is responsible for the organization's understanding of data through the management of business glossary assets, technical physical data dictionaries, and data lineage assets.
This includes ensuring metadata is appropriately created, stored, and maintained in a scalable and repeatable manner which is consistent with RBC data polies, standards, and best practices.
The role will collaborate widely across the organization, working with the Chief Data Office, business leaders, IT partners, as well as functional and operational partners.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Develop robust business term definitions, leveraging business knowledge and existing IT definitions to recommend terms for business partners to review and approve for upload into Enterprise Data Governance tools.
- Translate and interpret metadata artifacts collected into a format that adheres to the Enterprise Data Policy and upload the metadata into the data governance platform.
- Collaborate across multiple IT and architecture teams to document, reconcile and confirm the flow and lineage of critical data elements from source to target environments.
- Create meaningful data lineage diagrams that can be understood by business, IT and governance bodies.
- Develop procedures, artefacts, dashboards to help users navigate the universe of metadata in P&CB.
- Host data governance platform tooling training sessions to business and IT users to support the adoption of a common Enterprise tool, rather than the noncentralized sources being used today.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
- Experience with metadata management, data governance, data catalog, and lineage.
- Experience with Metadata Management methodologies and practices.
- Working knowledge of lineage and metadata management tools, such as Collibra, Manta.
- Proven ability to design, execute, and continuously improve business processes in a complex and challenging business environment.
- Superior organization, prioritization and time management skills and ability to multitask and shift priorities in an ambiguous environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Specialized knowledge and expertise relative to retail banking data.
- Experience with datacentric regulatory initiatives including AML, Basel III, IFRS, BCBS239 is an asset.
- Proven collaboration, impact, influence and change management capabilities across business, IT, and functions.
