Position Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Academic Pathways, the Academic Pathways Coordinator, Information Analysis will provide advisement services to prospective and current students and alumni seeking to pursue further education.

The Coordinator will communicate in-depth knowledge of eligibility requirements pertaining to academic programs, curriculum details, and career prospects in order to help students develop a plan for further education.

The Coordinator will also work with existing and prospective partner institutions both locally and abroad to gather information about transfers and will research, compile, manage and evaluate data and information pertaining to pathways both into and beyond Seneca.


Responsibilities:


Communication and Advisement

  • Ascertains student needs and goals and advises students concerning programs and alternative means available for addressing those needs and achieving their goals.
  • Presents prospective and current students and graduates with transfer options available in their pursuit of further education, identifying criteria for admissions, deadlines and assessing student transcripts to ensure academic readiness.

Information Management

  • Receives and reviews new Partnership Proposal Forms and ensures information is complete so further evaluation can be made.
  • Confirms institution accreditation, ministry program codes, and corresponding learning outcomes in order to move forward with new pathway partnerships.
  • Updates and reviews the ministries ONTransfer program to program database and ensure accuracy and options are up to date.
  • Reviews Seneca major and minor program modifications for agreement implications and initiates the process for review.
  • Connects with partners to request relevant pathways and transfer data that can be used to identify and evaluate pathway and partnership success or areas for growth.

Strategy, Planning, Outreach, and Resource Development

  • Utilizes departmental database tracking systems for research, analysis, and evaluation of both domestic and international pathways activity across the institution.
  • Tracks activity within the Academic Pathways Department to provide manager with data.
  • Researches and analyzes trends in Canada and around the world pertaining to the area of student mobility and pathways.
  • Researches and develops resources to support educational progression based on industry or professional designation and standards.
  • Attends industryrelevant conferences and information sessions on behalf of Seneca.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Minimum completed three (3) year degree or diploma in Education, Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or Business.
  • Adult Education certification would be an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in career/education/student advisement, liaison/recruitment, or student services.
  • Combination of experience in advisement, outreach and marketing, presentations, and project management.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of the postsecondary education system in Ontario, Canada, and internationally.
  • Excellent communication, relationshipbuilding and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand and interpret the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Thoughtful and detailoriented, with strong time management and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong technical and data analytics skills, with the ability to compile, organize and create reports using Excel.
  • Innovative mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement.

A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered equivalent to the above requirements in the event that there are no internal applicants that meet the qualifications as posted.

Equivalency will be assessed by the talent acquisition team.
