Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:

The Transplant Coordinator is primarily affiliated with the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program.

Under the general direction of the Manager of Patient Care Children's Clinic and the Medical Director, Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program - the incumbent is responsible for:


  • Ensuring that all prerequisites for a kidney transplant, according to established policies, procedures and protocols, are adequately fulfilled including for national organ programs
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of a total quality management program in compliance with Canada Accreditation Standards as it relates to the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program.
  • Assisting with registration, data collection, recording, statistical analysis, etc. under supervision and according to established protocols and clinical study guidelines (Canadian Institute for Health Research and National Institute of Health, NAPRTCS, CORR).
  • Development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of educational programs for Child Health Program nursing staff and, conducting inservice education to Child Health Program nursing staff covering organ and transplantation at the professional/health care facility level.
  • Development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of educational programs and materials for patients and their families. Conducting educational programs for patients and their families.

Experience:


  • Minimum four years recent related nursing experience required.
  • Experience in Pediatric Nursing preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric nephrology preferred.
  • Experience in PICU preferred.
  • Experience and interest in professional/public education preferred.
  • Must have computer experience in word processing/data entry.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the applicable policy.
  • Must have a current driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle with valid registration.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Must have good communication and problemsolving skills, be selfmotivated and be able to work independently and in a multi and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills. Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Indigenous training preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of health equity and impact on patient care.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Physical Requirements:


  • Good physical and mental health.
