    Description
    The Policy Analyst will support the work within the Strategic Policy, Planning & Quality (SPPQ) Team.

    The SPPQ team will be a highly functioning, technical unit that will support the development of tools and processes to assist in the implementation of the strategic management framework.

    This work will also include supporting strategic planning and co-developing decision-making processes based on the direction of First Nations.
    Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.

    Demonstrated understanding of and competence in, serving culturally diverse populations knowledgeable of First Nations' people, history, culture, health priorities and social issues.

    Post-secondary degree in health policy, public health, public administration, law or related discipline and/or combined relevant experience.
    Experience in a project management capacity.
    Must have working knowledge of political, legislative and regulatory process impacting First Nations health and First Nations governance.

    Ability to prepare and deliver high quality written reports and presentations for diverse audiences with the ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and respectfully.

    Understand and facilitate health planning discussions and the interrelationship with health policy and legislation.
    Experience with First Nations community engagement, community-based research and First Nations decision making processes.
    Excellent interpersonal, communication, advocacy and organizational skills.

    Research, review, monitor and analyze provincial and federal government initiatives, legislation, policy and operational plans which affect the health and health services for First Nations in the Sioux Lookout area.

    Development of strategies and mechanisms to support a policy, planning and decision-making framework to ensure that alignment of all decisions and planning at various levels is in accordance with direction from leadership.

    Facilitate, articulate and communicate linkages between government policy directions and First Nations directions and will provide technical support in the advocacy of First Nations health and Treaty rights.

    Collect, create, analyze and disseminate information and evidence to support health planning.

    Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of effective networks and relationships with all levels of leadership/government and other experts as required.

    Participate in the launch and management of advocacy strategies related to identified First Nations priorities.
