RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent will participate in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. They will perform a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology and will prepare materials and equipment. They will compile data, demonstrate techniques and maintain equipment.

General Duties

Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments,
Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as molecular biology, biochemistry, histology, microbiology, physiology, chemistry, and immunology,
Prepares and sets up materials and equipment,
Performs a variety of assays, analyses and tests including tissue culture, DNA extraction from a variety of sources (blood, tissue and FFPE), PCR, electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, radiochemical assays, chromatography and histological procedures,
Records results, performs calculations and compiles data. Maintains records and files,
Demonstrates the operation of apparatus or techniques,
Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area,
Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge,
Uses a variety of equipment such as balances, pH meters, pipettes, laminar flow hoods, incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, chromatography apparatus, thermocycler, electrophoresis apparatus, phosphor imager, cryostats, microtomes, computers and audiovisual equipment,

Additional information

Status:
Temporary Part-Time - 10 hours per week

Pay Scale:
$ $32.60 per hour, commensurate with education & work experience

Work Shift: 10 hours per week
