_ Program Overview - Child Care & Family Services _

  • WoodGreen serves over 700 children through seven licensed child care centres in Toronto's east end and at Pape House. Our curriculum is based on the most uptodate practices and is designed to respond to each child's individual needs and interests. In addition to our yearround programs, we also offer a summer camp program. Committed to continual learning and excellence, we work with a variety of partners to deliver our many services for children and families._

What You Will Do_**- _
Assist in supervision of children as assigned and ensure the safety, health and well-being of the children under care._
- _ Ensure that child care areas are disinfected on a regular basis. This includes tables, chairs, cupboards, counter tops, cubbies, etc._
- _ Ensure that kitchen areas are disinfected on a regular basis. This includes cupboards, counter tops, stove tops, coolers, etc._
- _ wipe tables and chairs before meals/snacks, set tables, clear and disinfect tables following meals/snacks, and assist in the serving of meals/snacks as required._
- _ Clean dishes, toys, and laundry according to schedule and in emergency situations._
- _ Prepare/handle food in a hygienic manner and ensure that all food is kept at appropriate temperatures until it is served._
- _ Work in cooperation with staff to maintain high standards of operation. _
- _Participate in supervisory sessions and attend staff meetings and unit meetings as required._
- _ Responsible for the upkeep of equipment/furnishings; inform the Manager if replenishment is necessary, and assess equipment needs/make recommendations regarding purchases._
- _ Responsible for keeping track of kitchen/laundry supplies; inform Manager when replenishment is necessary._
- _ Upgrade training and education as directed to fulfil the responsibilities of the job._
- _ Ensure the anti-racism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved within the program._
- _ Abide by the Child Care and Family Services Unit and WoodGreen policies and other regulations as stated in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and the City of Toronto's AQI (Assessment for Quality Improvement) criteria document. This includes Behaviour Management/Child Guidance Policies._

High school diploma._
- _ Valid Food Handlers Certificate. _
- _Valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C._

- _ Ability to stand for extended periods of time; to work at the height of children._
- _ Willingness to work in conditions involving exposure to: bodily fluids, infectious diseases; frequent high noise levels; occasional inclement weather._
- _ Ability to work with chemical substances contained in cleaning supplies._
