ABOUT THE JOB:


As a Supply Chain Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our manufacturing process.

You will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and delivering the materials and services that we need from reliable and cost-effective suppliers.

You will also monitor and optimize the demand and inventory levels, evaluate the performance and quality of suppliers, and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with them.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and execute a biweekly purchasing plan for all components to ensure optimal inventory levels that match customer demand.
  • Track inventory levels regularly to detect any gaps or surpluses.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable source of goods and services and to address any issues that may arise.
  • Support the negotiation of purchase orders to secure the best price and quality of materials and services.
  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams, such as engineering, production and sales to align supply chain strategies with overall business goals.
  • Assess supplier performance regularly and implement improvement actions where needed.
  • Contribute to the Sales and Operations planning by providing weekly updates on materials availability, leadtimes, and component shortages.
  • Manage the consignment of materials to Contract Manufacturers.
  • Source materials that require customization from multiple suppliers.
  • Select the best method for transporting goods from one place to another based on time and cost factors.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade laws.
  • Coordinate with transportation companies to clear customs.
  • Coordinate the recovery of nonconforming materials with suppliers.
  • Serve as a backup to the logistics coordinator.
  • Help in the quarterly inventory count.
  • Create and update the bill of materials (BOMs) in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing, planning, supply chain management or supporting new product introduction
  • Solid knowledge of purchasing electronic components and negotiating prices
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and MRP software
  • A Bachelor of Administration degree in Business or Finance with a focus on Supply Chain, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A strong work ethic, a positive attitude, a high level of integrity and a keen interest in learning
  • Knowledge of inventory control and warehousing best practices.
  • Good understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Kanban and FIFO
  • High level of work commitment, attention to detail and the ability to learn and follow procedures
  • Strong orientation to accuracy and detail. Meticulous record keeping
  • Great teamwork and team building skills
  • Selfdirected and selfmotivated
  • Previous warehouse experience in shipping/receiving is an asset
  • A certification in PMAC, SCMP, APICS, C.P.M. or equivalent is an asset.
