About the Position

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise in all functional areas of Human Resources with emphasis on employee relations.
  • Acts as a business partner to our People Leaders on human resource and employee relations matters, supporting and coaching as needed to ensure compliance and consistency. Keep up to date with applicable provincial legislation and make recommendations to the business.
  • Review documentation and prepare letters of discipline when required, supporting the process to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Maintain knowledge of labor/union issues and best practices in order to promote positive labor relations. This includes working in union environment, understanding & managing through a CBA. Provide advice and guidance on grievance matters. Support the dispute resolution process including investigating issues/grievances, maintaining and responding to documentation, engaging in discussions with management and union representatives in an effort to achieve effective resolution and attend grievance meetings.
  • Conduct workplace investigations as necessary, make recommendations and provide corrective actions.
  • Activate the power of our people by encouraging the ATS Culture Reward Program and employee engagement activities.
  • Manage fullcycle recruitment and selection process, ensure ATS' process, policies and all applicable legislation are followed consistently. Work with key stakeholders, using internal and external resources (when applicable) to fulfill workforce staffing plans.
  • Conducts new hire orientation to ensure successful onboarding of all new hires.
  • Develop and facilitate HR training as needed. Examples include Respect in the Workplace, Recruitment and Employee Relations for People Leaders, etc.
  • Leverage HR knowledge and experience to identify best practices, deliver innovative enhancements to current programs, and seek efficiencies and improvements that add value and align with ATS Traffic strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate HR policies to People Leaders and employees across organization.
  • Administer performance management process (goal setting, coaching, etc.) and assist with tracking and reporting as required. Ensure information is accurate and provide training and technical support to end users.
  • Administer, facilitate and deliver compensation review process in UKG. Provide coaching and guidance to People Leaders around compensation philosophy.
  • Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of HRIS data.
  • Work safely and understand the importance of reporting all hazards and/or incidents immediately to their Supervisor. Assists our Environmental Health and Safety team when required.
  • Ability to travel to work locations as and when needed, on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a wellrounded HRBP role is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in the various HR functional areas employee relations, recruitment, compensation, performance management, training and development, and policy related work.
  • A post secondary diploma or degree in either Business, Human Resources or a related field is required.
  • 2 or more years experience working with UKG or another HRIS system.
  • Intermediate to senior level experience in Microsoft Office suite of products is desired: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • A deep knowledge of HR programs and practices, including applicable federal and provincial employment laws and regulations is required.
