An independent administrative tribunal, the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) is the provincial body responsible for administering the provincial Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR), governed by the Agricultural Land Commission Act (ALCA), Agricultural Land Reserve Use Regulation and Agricultural Land Reserve General Regulation.

The Commission is hosted by a Ministry of the provincial government; however, the work of the ALC is carried out by an independent government-appointed Chair and board of directors who report directly to the legislature via the host Minister.

The work of the Commission is supported by a team of technical and professional staff.


To review the facts of compliance and enforcement violation reports, gather and confirm missing or contradictory information from a variety of established sources, including reviewing ALC legislation and regulations and make recommendations to C&E officers for inspection or other verification.

Provide compliance and enforcement statistics to management on a regular basis.


Job Requirements:


  • Diploma in a related field and 6 months related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a related field and 1year related experience; OR
  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 2 years related experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes any of the following:

  • Experience in a client or customer service environment.
Experience with Leading meetings, including preparing agendas, minutes and action items
Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:


  • Experience working with ALC legislation, regulations, and policies governing the compliance program;
  • Completed courses or experience in administrative statutory decisionmaking; and
  • Completed courses or experience in compliance and enforcement

About this Position:

This position has full-time on-site requirements.

The position is available in Burnaby.

An eligibility list may be established for future permanent and/or temporary opportunities.
