Description

Labourers with Cando are responsible for performing the safe and efficient loading, unloading and securement of product to railcars.

Working in a fast-paced, customer oriented environment, the Operators must work well in teams to maximize efficiency while demonstrating a strong initiative and safety focus.

Roles and Responsibilities

Conduct and participate in clear and concise job briefings.
Operate equipment such as lift truck, genie lift, spacer machine, etc. according to the safety rules and regulations of Cando and its customer
Maintain inventory by identifying, labelling, and placing frames and supplies in stock and recording locations of inventory
Document frames and supplies by recording units delivered and the locations of the units (FIFO),
Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying frames are listed in production/shipping orders
Prepare stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, placing, loading, scanning, and capping/securing product on truck and/or railcar
Document product shipment by recording units shipped
Lift 25 lb rods into caps above head height and secure by pulling a chain through the rod; ratchet turnbuckles on chains until chain is tight and load is secure, lift and sort 20 lb spacers to support production
Adhere to all Health and Safety Programs; conduct job hazard analysis, report unsafe working conditions, and ensure they are repaired immediately
Contribute to team effort by assisting other team members in all functions of the job; take direction from Shift Supervisor
Work and operate equipment according to customer and Cando's safety rules and regulations
Ensure the site is clean, tidy, organized, and a safe work place at all times

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Prioritize and perform multiple tasks with the ability to meet daily demands and function in busy situations
Ability to operate and perform daily maintenance checks on required machinery, including the ability to change clamps and exchange propane cylinders
Medically fit to work in a safety sensitive environment; physically fit including the ability to pull self up and down from forklift, genie lift, and rail car
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions in a plant that operates 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week
Demonstrate initiative to work with others to foster a respectful workplace
Able to accept new challenges and responsibilities as they arise
