JOB PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, support and execute all payroll functions.

You will need to support HR functions by providing payroll information to employees and managers on employee relations, provide answers to payroll queries, policies/procedures, pension and benefits.

In the role of Payroll you will provide timely and accurate processing of payroll and reporting of payroll costs through to the general ledger.

You will also deal with all government agencies with respect to source deductions, workers' compensation, EHT etc. remittances and reconciliation.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - LIST IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE ALL DUTIES OF THIS POSITION:


HR DUTIES:


  • Coordinate and process the monthly benefits, pension and remittances (Cdn & US) Manulife, Unum, ADP, US, etc.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of HR policies
  • Coordinate the performance evaluation, employee satisfaction and succession planning programs
  • Develop and conduct training programs suitable for the organization

PAYROLL DUTIES:


  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of biweekly payroll
  • Benefits coordinator
- ensuring that STD, LTD sponsor statements are submitted on time and follow up as requi

  • Prepare month end journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts (balance sheet, expense and variance analysis)
  • Prepare all monthly government remittances and reconciliation
  • Manage the year end process of T4's (Cdn) and W5's (US) and ensure compliance with CCRA & IRS regulations (labour standards)
  • Process ROE's, garnishee, expense reports, time cards etc.
  • Change and upkeep schedules in ADP working with supervisors and managers
  • Provide training and running ADP reports for depts that may require assistance.

SKILLS REQUIRED - COMPUTER PROGRAMS OR OTHER SKILLS:

  • Experience in both Canadian and US payroll (ADP)
  • Strong communication & organizational skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

years of payroll experience

  • CPA designation or equivalent work experience
