The Role:

The Enterprise Commons Program is a multi-year initiative to implement a single, modernized, core enterprise resource planning software solution.

The Enterprise Commons Program will standardize working processes, increase efficiency and result in greater integration between areas such as Finance, Human Resources and Inventory and Warehouse Management.


The Payroll Compare and Testing Lead - Enterprise Commons delivers on the City's ERP transformation program by guiding and leading integrated, multi-disciplinary teams composed of staff from across the City.

Work includes managing testing and validation activities related to the successful implementation of a new, modern payroll system, in support of Enterprise Commons.


Reporting to the Human Resource Functional Lead, the Payroll Compare and Testing Lead - Enterprise Commons is responsible for the integrity of the new payroll system prior to go-live, through the management of extensive testing, including parallel pay comparisons of the payroll module and related time and attendance module of the SAP Cloud ERP solution.


Goals and deliverables:


  • Act as the key liaison for payroll compare testing and testing with the Employee Services Department staff during the SAP Cloud ERP solutions implementation
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of consultants, contractors, business partners and stakeholders
  • Lead the payroll compare cycles, ensuring accurate pay
  • Support the integrated testing process (developing and maintaining test scripts and scenarios) in order to discover and mitigate errors and issues impacting pay
  • Provide business payroll expertise and strong leadership to ensure payroll accuracy on golive
  • Develop a deep understanding of the payroll and related human resources processes across the organization and the interconnectedness of these processes with the existing systems
  • Collaborate with the Open City and Technology Branch and the Enterprise Commons Centre of Excellence to ensure that the payroll solution is supportable and integrates corporately
  • Coordinate with working groups for the payroll function system implementation for design configuration and implementation
  • Perform project management activities for the payroll compare function of the project
  • Support the City's payroll team post golive on issues and challenges
  • Lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture throughout the project teams that supports the Program Vision and Mission, as well as the Cultural Commitments

Qualifications:


  • Experience, training and/or accreditation related to payroll management and processing within a large unionized environment
  • Experience with payroll system configuration
  • Excellent understanding of Payroll Processing Methodology
  • Deep understanding of Human Resource business functions and processes as they relate to payroll
  • Strong understanding of project management principles
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is considered an asset
  • Experience with IT system integration is considered an asset
  • Experience in SAP payroll and knowledge of key integration points between SAP SuccessFactors modules is considered an asset
  • Combinations of education and experience may be considered
