As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of broadcast professionals.

What You'll Do

You'll act with integrity to:

Pitch original and compelling story ideas, conduct research, and write, voice, and produce news-style stories for television, web, and social media platforms in order to promote and educate the public about the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and the legislative process.


  • Present oncamera content.
  • Demonstrate the utmost tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in a politically sensitive environment.
  • You'll support our collaboration as you:
Work in a fast-paced, demanding, and team-orientated environment, while developing engaging video content to entertain and inform.

  • Support production staff with preproduction, shooting, editing and/or conducting interviews when the House is in session and complete video production when the House recesses.
  • Work alongside a Camera Operator/Editor to produce nonpartisan content that focuses on the Legislative Assembly, what is happening at the Assembly and how the parliamentary process works.

Qualifications

  • You demonstrate excellence through your:

A minimum of a college diploma in journalism or a related field and at least two years' experience as a Broadcast Journalist reporting on daily news.


  • Ability to generate, pitch and pursue strong, creative story ideas as well as write accurate and compelling scripts.
  • Strong interview skills and a comfortable, dynamic onair presence.
  • Ability to leverage social media and digital platforms.
  • Ability work independently and to be a team player, flexible and adept at fostering positive working relationships.
  • Ethos of nonpartisan public service in support of good governance and healthy democracy.
  • Enjoyment of watching political debates and keen interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs.

Salary Range:
$ $49.14 per hour
