Founded in 1968, Gateway Mechanical is a privately-owned company that has established itself as a leader in the commercial and industrial refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning industry (HVACR).
Attending to 40,000+ service calls per year, Gateway is the largest HVAC & Refrigeration service provider in Western Canada.Our model is comprised of local branch teams with fully qualified personnel representing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing/gas fitting, sheet metal, and electrical trades.
These teams are supported by centers of excellence including professional engineers and project managers which ensures Gateway's full technical capability is available for every project and service call.
The Refrigeration/HVAC Apprentice, located in the greater Vancouver, BC area, is responsible for providing installation, preventive maintenance, service, and repair on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in a commercial and industrial setting while show casing exceptional customer service skills.
Servicing new and existing accounts by analyzing work orders, investigating complaints, identifying solutions, conducting tests, and resolving problems;Troubleshooting issues with all commercial and industrial HVAC / Refrigeration equipment;
Installing or retrofitting equipment as per specifications, customer requests, blueprints or the current building / plumbing codes;
Inspecting product quality and installation to ensure conformance and customer satisfaction;
Documenting service and installation actions by completing electronic forms, reports, logs, and records;
The successful candidate will have completed Level 2 Technical Training in a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning program;
Experience in a commercial or industrial setting is required;
Available for rotating on call shifts;
Valid class 5 driver's license with an acceptable 5 year driver's abstract;
Valid safety certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, CSTS, PSTS, Fall Protection, AWP, H2S Alive, Elevated Work Platform, Energy Safety Canada are considered an asset.
