We are looking for an
IT Security Administrator, who will play a pivotal role in supporting and maintaining our organization's security infrastructure.

In collaboration with our IT team, this role will configure, manage and update various security systems and tools to protect our networks and data.


This opportunity offers the ability to work remotely from anywhere in British Columbia.

What's the role?


As the
IT Security Administrator, you will be responsible for configuring, overseeing, and updating diverse security systems and tools to safeguard our networks and data.

This entails overseeing user access systems, monitoring security logs, and leading incident response efforts.

In close collaboration with our IT team, you'll contribute to patch management and policy development, as well as conduct compliance audits.

Additionally, you'll monitor security incidents, maintain documentation, and work alongside third-party vendors and the IT team to effectively integrate security measures.


Your duties will include:

  • Responsible for configuring and maintain security systems and tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, antivirus software, data encryption systems, vulnerability scanners, and other securityrelated technologies.
  • Ensure systems are up to date, properly configured, and effectively protect the organization's networks, systems, and data using an IT security lens.
  • Manage user authentication mechanisms including design, user roles, and enforcing password policies.
  • Monitor security logs, analyze alerts, investigate security incidents and breaches or unauthorized activities.
  • Develop and implement patch management processes, strategies, and procedures to minimize the risk of exploitation, working with IT administrators to implement the changes and updates.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct security awareness campaigns, provide guidance on secure computing practices, and organize workshops or training sessions for employees.
  • Responsible for preparing regular reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and mitigation efforts to keep management informed about the organization's security posture.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma requiring 34 years of fulltime study or have an equivalent combination of education and experience in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CISM certifications preferred but not essential.
Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:

  • 2 years' Experience in Information Technology or IT Security
  • Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Experience with information security risk management frameworks, including risk assessment, risk acceptance and risk registers.
  • Experience performing security threat and risk assessments.
  • Experience with third party risk management and vendor risk assessments
  • Experience with information security policy frameworks
  • Experience with information security industry standards such as NIST
  • Experience with a Governance, Risk and Compliance tool is a plus.
