POSITION PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Superintendent Equipment and Supplies, and under the guidance of the Team Lead Logistics, is responsible for providing daily logistic support, customer service, inventory management through the use of computerized inventory and asset control systems; repairing/maintaining/inspecting medical equipment such as oxygen regulators, suction and lifting equipment; cleaning and decontamination of all medical equipment and vehicles, providing minor repair to vehicles and property and related quality assurance/control measures to assist in compliance with Provincial Acts and Regulations, Municipal By-laws, Regional Policies and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) Certification standards.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes proper processes and documentation for deficiencies with equipment including lock out procedures, internal tracking, escalation to management staff if necessary (suspicious activity or unknown) and follow up.
  • Monitors medical equipment inventory, follows preventative maintenance requirements and supports the manufacturers in performing maintenance and repairs in accordance with manufacturer standards, warranty, recall, MOHLTC Provincial Equipment Standards and Regional policy and procedures.
  • Performs 40 point mechanical preshift inspection of ambulances and other vehicles in accordance with Ontario Highway Traffic Act and Regional policy and procedures.
  • Assists with ordering, receiving and stocking of medical supplies and equipment in the warehouse facility by stock rotation, cycle counting, warehouse organization, warranty and recall situations.
  • Stocks equipment bags and vehicles with medical supplies for frontline Paramedic staff according to MOHLTC Provincial Equipment Standards by checks on each medical supply for name, concentration, lot number, expiry date, and other pertinent information.
  • Performs peer to peer cross checking of stocking procedures with medical supplies, equipment and standardization processes for quality control based on operational and safety standards.
  • Completes reports in computer tracking systems and follows up on requests in a timely manner.
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate, from frontline staff and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a 2 year College Diploma in Business Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of a 1 year Supply Chain Management Certificate or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years' with minimum of 1 year in mechanical repair and 1 year in Supply chain management, including experience with purchasing, inventory management, standard operating procedures, quality control and related functions, obtained in a health care setting, large warehouse or multisite environment.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's licence free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to successfully complete training in inventory, asset management electronic programs and calibration involving written and practical components.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to set priorities and meet required deadlines.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software.
  • Ability to successfully complete a variety of equipment preventative repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (footwear, gloves, masks and protective suits) and the ability to reach and lift heavy objects and/or awkward items, and the ability to withstand long periods of walking, climbing and bending.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to maintain confidentiality including exposure to sensitive situations involving medical details.
  • Knowledge of industry related Provincial Acts and Regulations such as the MOHLTC Provincial Equipment and Vehicle Standards, the Highway Traffic Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including Communication, Innovation, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Personal Ownership.
