Communications Officer.

The
Communications Officer provides strategic support to the Project Communications team, with a focus on supporting the internal and external communications and stakeholder engagement needs of the projects and programs under the environmental remediation management team.


This position also assists in, and may be called on to lead the development and implementation of communications strategies and products in support of the broader Stewardship Renewal Group mission.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing and implementing communication strategies to support the execution of CNL projects.
  • Writing communications products in plain language when required.
  • Developing content by reviewing technical documents.
  • Ensuring communications products, including website content, are kept up to date and accurate by reviewing and revising regularly.
  • Organizing logistics for internal and external Project Communications activities and events and ensuring appropriate content is available and/or refreshing existing or developing new content where necessary (e.g. presentations, key messages).
  • Recording and tracking stakeholder input/feedback.
  • Developing and maintaining communications/engagement reports, ensuring completeness, accuracy and organization of information meets internal, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Representing CNL at public events.
  • Other duties as required by your manager.

  • Discuss deadlines with project teams.
  • Interpret and write technical information in plain language.
  • Think and act logically, quickly and, periodically, "outofthebox."
  • Embrace change and challenges.

Experience

  • Experience in developing communications strategies and plans to meet the needs of stakeholders, and supporting information material, including brochures, fact sheets, backgrounders, media releases, newsletters, key messages and website content for public audiences and the media.
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous groups is an asset.
  • Experience dealing oneonone with stakeholders and members of the public.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Outlook and Office Suite; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
  • Experience in communications aspects of issues management, with the ability to develop strategies that address public concerns.

Education

  • A university degree/college diploma in Communications, Public Relations and/or Journalism plus a minimum of four (4) years comprehensive work experience in a professional communications environment, preferably with a focus on public interface.

Security Eligibility Requirement

  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC) which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security".

Working Conditions

  • Works sitting/standing in front of a computer screen for most/all of the workday.
  • Work primarily remotely, i.e. from home, in an ergonomically safe space.
