Your Next Opportunity
As McMillan's Writer for marketing and communications, you will have opportunity to create compelling stories, develop interesting content and deliver communications, from print to digital.
Working as a member of the Marketing and Business Development team, you will take direction from our Director, Client Relations and work across integrated teams to bring message consistency to targeted audiences.
What You'll Do
Strategy & Planning
- Align message and content development with the firm's market position across disciplines, industries and communities
- Collaboratively contribute to the development of the firm content strategy and content calendar
Execution
- Research, write, edit and produce content for marketing and client development collaterals, brand positioning, recruitment, and corporate communications
- Engage in regular dialogue with firm leaders to gain a broader understanding of firm's areas of focus, and to maintain an understanding of employer brand and law student recruitment objectives
- Support development of evergreen content for marketing and business development aspects of the firm's intranet
What You Bring
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, 47 years' experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a public relations and/or corporate communications environment
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the legal industry
- Copy editing in accordance to the Canadian Press style guide with an eagle eye for consistency in writing skills, i.e. spelling, capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, etc. combined to tone, style and grammar
- Experience with the production requirements associated with print, digital, social, web, video and other media
- Demonstrated experience in supporting social and digital communication campaigns, and familiar with content marketing strategy
- Proficiency in project management and the ability to complete multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Capable to effectively influence others through an understanding, thoughtful and tactful communication style with a flair to identify and respond to contentious, politically and/or culturally sensitive issues with discretion
- Enthusiastic and energetic selfstarter who is highly effective in collaborating with others with the ability to work proactively and independently in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite / Office 365, content management systems and social media channels are essential. Experience with SharePoint environments an asset
- Flexibility for overtime
- Bilingual (English / French) an asset
