Work Arrangements:

We are currently working remotely, and we will be moving to a hybrid model when our office renovation is complete (approximately September 2023), coming into the office a minimum of 2 days per week, every other week on designated days.


The Opportunity:

Equitable Life is looking to grow our Group Claims Support team, with the addition of another Group Disability Case Manager Coordinator.


Providing excellent client service using our Service First guiding principles to external and internal clients is what we do You will join a small, but mighty team and be accountable to accurately assess disability claims for completion, taking action to resolve missing information while maintaining service standards and meeting or exceeding quality standards.

You will respond to incoming inquiries, both written and by phone, perform outbound phone calls to plan members, plan sponsors and practitioners as required, to ensure the efficient flow of claims.


You will also help to manage daily work in virtual queues including but not limited to indexing, setting up new claims, sending out communication, managing incoming communications, follow ups and other tasks as required.

What you will be doing:


  • Handle inbound and outbound phone calls as well as written communication
  • Complete templated letters on BMS to send to claimants/employers
  • Index incoming documentation accurately and within established turn around times
  • Complete new claim set up
  • Complete follow ups on new and existing claims within the required turn around time, to ensure documentation is received accurate and timely for disability claims management
  • Issue expense payments on BMS to doctors, rehab providers, investigators, etc.
  • Preparation of affidavits for litigations
  • Maintain spreadsheets for tracking mail volumes, settlements each month, and other reporting purposes
  • Other duties as required

What you will bring:


  • Knowledge of Life and Disability claims adjudication processes
  • Superior interpersonal skills to manage relationships with internal and external clients. Clients include Plan Members, Plan Sponsors, Disability Case Specialists, Finance, I/T, other Group Departments, Group Offices, medical offices, and physicians
  • Ability to meet productivity and quality standards in a fastpaced production environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Actively contribute to the teams' continuous process improvement objectives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and maintain a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to work in several different systems at the same time
  • High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive issues
  • Willingness to adapt current processes, or take on additional tasks to improve efficiency and internal client support provided to each claims area
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Detail oriented and problem resolution skills
  • Dependability and reliability
