The Facility Operator position reports to the Principal and is responsible for facilitating the learning environment of the facility by providing a safe and clean environment.
The Facility Operator maintains the integrity of the building, has responsibility for the plant and its operations, performs general maintenance and is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Fifth Class Engineering certificate or equivalent is an asset
- Certification according to code for the facility (Fireman's Boiler Certificate, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS Training)
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning industry and current practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance procedures, tools and equipment
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and mechanical equipment
- Previous experience in building maintenance including minor interior and exterior repairs/maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems
- Previous experience performing daily cleaning, disinfecting, dusting, washing, polishing and scrubbing
- Strong background and knowledge of safe workplace practices
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to deal with a broad range of students, staff and members of the general public
- Good physical condition:
- ability to lift or exert up to 50 lbs of force frequently
- ability to lift or exert up to 20 lbs of force constantly
